Kids With Cameras Program

Seeing the community through the lenses of our youth…

The goal of the HRC Kids With Cameras Program is to partner with local youth organizations to increase the youth’s awareness of and involvement in neighborhoods and communities while learning basic photography and the joy of acquiring a record of accomplishments that are valued personally and by others.

The Human Relations Council began Kids With Cameras in Spring 2009.

The program is designed to use experiential learning in photojournalism to create civic awareness and responsibility among youth aged 10 to 14 years, by encouraging them to explore their community and document their views with photos.

The program culminates with a public photo exhibition and awards celebration. The young photographers receive certificates of completion and a bound portfolio of their work and photos documenting the workshops and field work.
